Abstract
A safety hat or helmet comprises: a hard hat or cap with a light system or a strap on device with a light system. The light system has a front light for illuminating the way ahead and side and rear lights and/or reflectors.
Description
b 2363314 SAFETY HEADLIGHTS
DESCRIPTION
TECHNICAL FIELD
This invention relates to a light system for headwear.
BACKGROUND
People are becoming more aware of safety and convenience from having lights that are clearly visible on people in public areas. Also increasing safety legislation may make this compulsory.
This applies particularly for people moving around or on moving equipment such as drivers, cyclists, rollerbladers, riders and skiers, as well as those in need of light in front andlor around them for any activity or leisure use.
The same applies to others such as people on foot, motorcycles, skateboards, roller skates, scooters, runners, orienteers, potholers, climbers, walkers, hikers and anyone moving or stationary who wishes to light up the way ahead and give protection lights to rear and side.
This may also include workers, delivery and service people such as road side repair servicers, or road menders and people servicing kit by roads who wish to have hands free while also being able to see better and to be seen.
PROBLEM There is danger for people who are not visible or who can not see in areas that do not have proper lights. There should be legislation to require the wearing of proper lights at all times. These lights need to be head high to be seen. Low level weak lights are not visible.
The object of the invention is the use of head high proper lights for the safety of the users, and the safety of other people who may injure themselves as they do not see the person who should be wearing some form of safety hat/helmet that for all who are ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL FEATURES
Claims (8)
- According to the Claims there is provided a light system that is eitherbuilt in or fixed to the headwear that can be a safety helmet or hat.The main feature is that lights are fixed or fitted at head level. The front light can be a beam like a torch beam.Essential features are the facts of using lights to front, side and rear in any combination to provide forward vision and all round protection. The power for the lights is by electric that can be battery or link to engine generator such as a car or motorcycle. The lights can be fitted within the hat/helmet, or strapped on.The lights can be fitted onto the headgear. The lights can be in combinations such as front only, or to front and rear, or to front rear and side. Whichever combination can be supplemented by the use of reflectors in a strip or separate reflectors. The hat/helmet can be a hard crash type.EXAMPLE One good example is from cyclists who obey the current legislation at considerable risk, especially in urban areas. Lights on cycles are not sufficient at present. They are usually low down and very small.Riders are vulnerable and may run into others who they do not see, so a front beam from the headhigh light is essential. Riders themselves are invisible with current lighting laws that they are themselves vulnerable to be run into, so side and rear lights are essential for protection.A head high light system is essential. This should be built into or fitted to a helmet/hat. The lights can provide a forward beam and/or side and/or rear lights, altogether or in combinations that can also be supplemented by reflectors. The invention is shown by reference to the accompanying description and drawings in which; Figure I shows front view Figure 2 shows side view Figure 3 shows rear view Figure 4 shows top view Figure 5 shows under view SAFETY HEADLIGHTS CLAIMS I A safety hat/helmet comprising a hard hat/cap, or strap on system with a light system in the form of a front beam light with side and rear lights,or reflectors.
- 2 A safety hat/helmet with lights as claimed in Claim I wherein lights are provided to shine forward to light up the way ahead.
- 3 A safety hat/helmet with lights as claimed in Claim I and 2 wherein lights are provided to shine to rear and side to give visibility of the users.
- 4 A safety hat/helmet with lights as claimed in Claim 1, 2 and 3 that can be powered by battery or connection to a generator or mains electricity or engine such as on a car or motorcycle.
- 5 A safety hat/helmet with lights that may be of varying size depending on the type of use needed that provide a forward beam and rear and side lights fo r visibility and/or protection.
- 6 A safety hat/belmet that as in the above claims has a built into light system or a light system that is fixed onto the hat/helmet.
- 7 A safety hat/helmet that has light/lights as in the above claims for added visibility That may be any combination of front, side and rear lights. So it may have a front light only, or it may have a rear light only, or only side lights, or a front light and side light/reflectors and no rear light, or a front and rear light and no side lights, or a rear light and no front light.
- 8 A safety hat/helmet substantially as described herein with reference to figures on the drawings.
