Abstract

The drill dust collector comprises of a flat paper pocket with a slot. A light non-permanent adhesive surrounds the slot that is placed vertically over the point which is to be drilled. The pocket is opened and the dust that escapes from the hole as it is being drilled falls into the pocket. This is then removed and disposed of.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
DRILL DUST COLLECTOR The invention relates to a drill dust/debris collector that comprises of a flat paper pocket with a slot. Once attached to the wall the pocket is opened and ready to use. The slot makes it very easy to align with any pre-marked position. The rear of the pocket, which is attached to a vertical wall has a low tack adhesive around the slot only. This will allow the collector to be removed after the drilling is completed without damaging the wall decoration. The collector may be reused at the discretion of the user and the condition of the adhesive after initial use.
Similar ideas have been attempted in the past but have not been practical as they have design faults such as adhesive all over the back portion, low front protection that allows dust to escape, not easy to use quickly as the collector needs to be folded and made up when needed and most importantly a hole which is not easily aligned with the intended pr-marked position of the hole.
The object of this invention is to make available a way of drilling the holes needed to put up items in the home or office etc. such as Hooks, Shelves, Wall Lights, Mirrors, Bathroom accessories, paintings etc.
Accordingly the invention provides a way of attaching items to the wall without having dust from both plaster and brick dropping onto the furniture, carpet or floor. The dust from drilling a hole does tend to get into the crevices of the skirting board or onto carpet that may be of a light colour.
This will also dispense with the need to remove heavy furniture such as sideboards etc. The most important point is that no preparation is required and the dust/debris can be dispensed with quickly.
The protector may be made from paper/polythene in varying thickness.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: FIGURE 1 shows the front view of the collector when opened.
FIGURE 2 shows the rear view that is attached to the vertical wall and the adhesive area on the rear of the collector.
FIGURE 3 shows a section view showing the open pocket when being used.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
As shown in Figure 1, the collector comprises of a pocket approximately 16cm x 11 cm with slot from the top middle to half way down the pocket. The front edge is as high as the rear with the slot giving clear easy visibility to align it centrally with the marked position of the proposed drill hole. The slot leaves adequate access for the drill bit to make contact with the wall but without contact with the collector.
Figure 2 shows the rear view that is attached to the vertical wall. The slot is shown and the area that will have the adhesive is shaded.
Figure 3 shows a section view and how the collector will look when used.

Claims (5)

1. A dust collector that collects the dust/debris created when drilling a hole in a vertical wall.
2. A collector as claimed in Claim 1 where the collector is attached to the vertical wall by the use of minimal tacky adhesive around the slot used to allow the drill bit to enter and make contact with the wall.
3. A collector as claimed in Claim 1 & 2 that will stop the dust from creating a mess and allow the dust to be contained and disposed of
4. A collector as claimed in any preceding claim that is made from paper, board, polythene, polycarbon or any combination of these materials.
5. A dust/debris collector substantially described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
