Abstract

An exercise device for feet and legs may be fitted to a seat in a vehicle. The device comprises a frame 1 with two pedals 4 on a cross member 5, with the pedals pivoting on the cross member. When not in use the foot rest may be folded and stowed underneath the seat. The exercise is intended to stimulate blood flow in the lower limbs while seated: in particular the device may be used to reduce the likelihood of Deep Vein Thrombosis on aircraft.

DESCRIPTION PEDAL-REST 1 The invention relates to a'foot rest'that adapts to allow mobility of the low legs whilst in a seated position 2 For the use within the long distance travel industries, such as long haul Aircraft Flights and/or long distance Coach Travel.
3 The object of this invention, is to assist with the problems that can occur, causing concern, when immobility of the legs for extended period of time whilst in a seated position is bad for blood circulation in the legs.
4 The'Pedal-Rest'ensures a better raised position of the leg while seated, with the addition of a release button (fig 3) to allow mobility of the legs in a push pedal action in a forward and backward motion to help increase the blood circulation to prevent stagnation and thickening of the blood in the legs 5 Preferably, the'Pedal-Rest'is made of light weight but durable strength tested metal with non-slip rubber padded treads to assist in the comfort and safety non-slip surface when in motion

FEATURES Fig 1.
1. Shows top side to be bolted/secured to underside of seat directly in Front of passenger on Aircraft/Coach etc 2. Shows one of possible two positioned drop-down hinges thus Accommodating different leg lengths.
3. Shows push release button mechanism, thus allowing either 'Fixed Rest'position or'Pedal action'position of'Pedal-Rest'.
4. Rubberised heel rest, To allow non-slip heel rest, when at rest.
Or to keep heels steady when applying pressure to push pedal In the required forward and backward motion, when in use.
5. Concealed shaft with movement action mechanism within the inner Tube to release or fix the release button.
Fig 2. & Fig 3 In general shows a variation of design, in so much as the way that the'Pedal-Rest'is fixed under the seat in front of the Coach/ Aircraft seat, And in the design of how it pulls out into place Combined with an esthetical looks desired by the companies that will Wish to incorporate the design into their seating for the future.

Claims (4)

  1. PEDAL-REST 1. A foot rest fixed to underneath seating upon Airplanes/Coach or any other Form of travel vehicle where deemed appropriate. Foot rest is fixed in a way Such to enable storing away position and or puiled out for use when required.
  2. 2. Afoot rest as claimed in claim 1 will have a support for base of feet in rested Static position and button release mechanism to enable movement of the Legs whilst remaining seated.
  3. 3. A foot rest as claimed in claims 1 and 2 will also have relevant hinges shafts For ease of insertion and for other pieces of shafts to move freely within them 4. A foot rest as claimed in claims 1 2 and 3 which is made from metal, plastic Rubber or any combination of these materials.
