237,780. Mellin, C. J. Nov. 18, 1924. Reservoirs in axle-boxes.-In a locomotive axlebox 1, Fig. 1, having a lubricant reservoir 3 and supplementary bearings 2 below the crown brass 1<a>, a wedge strip 9 presses against one side of the reservoir 3 and the adjacent wall of the axlebox to prevent the side walls of the latter from closing in on the axle journal. As shown, the wedge 9 is located in a correspondingly shaped recess in the lubricant reservoir 3 and can be adjusted by screws 10. The supplementary bearings 2 and reservoir 3 are adjustably supported by nuts 5, 7 and spacing washers 11 on bolts 4, each of the latter having a circular head accommodated in a recess in an inner face of the axlebox. In a modification, the lugs 3b on the reservoir 3 are omitted and the latter is supported by bars 6, Fig. 7, which engage grooves in lugs 3e on the reservoir and pass through slots in the bolts 4.
