Abstract
237,043. Antill, P. P. May 7, 1924. Road - traffic signals on vehicles.-A direction indicator for vehicles suitable for mounting upon a wind - screen comprises a disc or semaphore C mounted upon an arm C<2>, which can be moved to the left or right through the medium of a handle A and hollow sleeve A' or can be moved forwardly about a pivot by operation of a press-button B and stem B' passing through the sleeve A<1>. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the arm C<2> is pivoted at C<3> to a member C<1> mounted on the sleeve A<1>, and the sleeve A<1> is in turn disposed within an outer fixed sleeve A<2>. In a modification, Fig. 4, a mitre-wheel F' is mounted on the arm C<2> and is adapted to co-operate with a second mitrewheel F attached to the fixed sleeve A<2> so that, during the movement of the disc arm to the right or left, the disc itself is turned from face to edge view. Springs (not shown) are provided to return the arm to its vertical position automatically when the operating handle or button is released.
