Abstract

236,872. Fejes, J. April 21, 1925. Axle structures.-A rear axle casing is divided in the middle, each half consisting of three conical bodies or surfaces of revolution 1, 2, 3, characterized by the feature that one or two interengaging strengthening rings 11, 12 is or are provided between the flanges 14 of the casing halves, and these rings support projections 9 to which the torque tube is fixed. The coned members are pressed from thin sheet steel and are welded together and riveted if necessary. The rings 11, 12 are welded and riveted to the flanges 14 and are either integral with the projections 9 or riveted thereto.
