Ball-jointed hinges; pivoting adjustments.-In an adjustable mounting for motor vehicle lamps, the lamp body is provided with a convex or concave boss, connected with a seating-piece, and an annular contractible, or expansible, collar is located between the boss and the seating-piece for imposing an axial thrust on the parts to secure them in adjusted position. In one form, as shown in Fig. 1, a hemispherical convex boss b on the lamp body a is connected by a bolt e, a plate g and a nut h with a seating-piece d on the mud-wing c and the parts are secured in adjusted position by the contraction of a collar j by means of a screw k. The seating-piece d may be secured to the mud-wing c by screws or by a nut i on the bolt e. The bolt may be replaced by a tubular member having flanged ends. In a second form, the collar j is arranged between the boss band the flat or conical upper end of a cylindrical boss on a seating-piece, a bolt and nut connecting the parts together and to the mud-wing. In a third form, a deeper collar rests on a flat seating-piece or on the mud-wing. In a fourth form, as shown in Fig. 3, a collar j, arranged between concave parts of the boss b and piece d, is expanded for securing the parts. In a fifth form, as shown in Fig. 6, the collar is arranged between the boss b and a tubular bracket l, which parts are connected together by a flanged tubular member m and a pin o. In a sixth form, the member m is adapted to be screwed into the divided end of a bracket l, and the collar j engages a ring having a conical face bearing on the conical outer end of the bracket.
