Moulding wheel tyres. -Apparatus for rerubbering tyre covers comprises a two - part mould 1, 2 fitted with a tread ring 4 and an expansible annulus composed of sections 5 which are moved relatively to one another by an expanding device having ends adapted to be wedged apart. As shown, the sections 5 interfit with a pin-and-slot connection 7, 8 and have inturned flanges 9 adapted to be engaged by the bevelled edges 11 of an expanding-ring 10. The ring 10 is furnished with ends 10<1> having nibs 12 engagable by a wedging-device 14 composed of a pair of legs hinged together at 15 and furnished with nuts 17 to receive a screw 18 having at the ends strong springs 19 held by nuts 20. A current of cold air may be passed through the annulus to prevent overheating of the canvas layers.
