Abstract
236,276. Cruse, H. April 2, 1924. Junction pieces and the like. - Tube elements of steam superheaters have their heattransmitting portions flattened. The circular section of the tube at the ends gradually merges into a section such as b, Figs. 1 and 3<A>, in which the crosssection is reduced while maintaining the heat-transmitting surface. The two contiguous ends j of the tubes may be of D-section, and the flat faces may be welded together for a short distance. The ends are enclosed by a bend f of oval cross-section. Four tubular elements may be similarly connected by forming their ends of quadrant section. The flattened portions of the tubes may be at any angle to the stream of heating gases.
