Railway-carriage doors, fastening automatically. - A pneumatically-operated bolt for locking railway carriage doors when the train is in motion of the kind in which the end 12 of a piston rod 11 acts as the nose of the bolt, is housed in a casing 1 divided into two chambers 2, 7 by a diaphragm 3 which acts as a guide for the piston. The. retractiÀig spring 8 in the chamber 7 bears against a collar 4 on the piston and the collar abuts 'against the diaphragm 3 in the retracted position of the bolt. The piston head 10 is moved in the chamber 2 by pressure from a service pipe 6 leading to the main pipe of the pressure generating device controlled by the brakes or by the motion of the train.
