Abstract

236,119. Laban, C. Jan. 22, 1925. Addition to 167,080. Tobacco pipes.-The rotatable tube of the pipe described in the parent Specification is provided with a permanently closed end, and the side opening in the tube, or one of the side openings therein, is so disposed that by a simple rotary movement thereof it can be exposed to the atmosphere to permit of the blowing-out of foul matter. The construction is such that by a slight with. drawal of the tube when the pipe is in use an extra air inlet can be obtained. As shown, the tube 7 has a cap 8 permanently secured on its end the cap having a milled edge 9 to facilitate turning by the fingers. When the tube is given a halfturn the outer end of the slot 12. is opened to the atmosphere and nicotine &c. can be blown out. Instead of a slot or single opening the tube may have several openings one of which is so arranged that it is normally sealed by the thickness of the material of the bowl, but when the tube has been turned this opening is exposed to the atmosphere.
