Caretakers; coin-action, thrust. -In apparatus of the kind desscribed in Specification 11233/15 wherein a kev or tool used by a number of persons is retained in a casing and is released by a check bearing a number, the check is inserted to release the key and removed after replacement of the key at one and the same slot and the key is inserted at the front of the casing. The key is attached to the plugs f which, when inserted into the hole e in the front of the casing b, is retained by the engagement of projections k<1> on a pair of levers k. pivoted at h, in the annular recess f<1> of the plug. The end f<2> of the plug engages a spring o at the back of the casing and presses back a U-shaped member n. The key is released by pressing a check d into the hole c in the top of the casing. When its periphery engages the lugs l on the levers k presser, them apart against the springs m, releasing the projections k<1> from the groove f<1>. The removal of the plug allows the spring o to advance the member n so that its arms engage over the check and retain it within the casing. A number or character on the check is visible through a hole g in the casing and indicates which person has removed the plug. The spring o is protected from being forced back by wire to release the check, by a gravity catch q which engages it when the plug is removed and is released by the projection q<1> when the plug is reinserted. The hole e is surrounded by a member s which may be provided with wards requiring slots as f<4> in the kev. The token or check may be crimped requiring a correspondingly shaped slot. The character may be carried by the part projecting above the casing. The levers k give the check an initial upward movement when the check is released by the replacement of the plug.
