Abstract

An oven and grill assembly comprises an oven chamber above a grill chamber, each respective chamber being open-fronted. The exhaust duct (3) from the grill chamber terminates at an inlet (5) in the oven chamber, allowing smoke and grease particles to disintegrate in the heated oven chamber. A flue (4) from the oven chamber includes a flue damper (6). The oven chamber includes a ceramic floor. The grill chamber includes a grill rack (18). The respective chambers are heated preferably by gas burners (25), either natural or bottled, or by wood. The assembly may include a thermostat. The assembly includes bolted-on legs (10), and a thermally insulated dome.

Description

2350181 OPEN-FLAME OVEN and GRILL This invention relates to an Open-Flame
Oven and Grill.
Ovens are well known and commonly used in domestic and commercial applications. They achieve desired temperatures for cooking by using either Natural Gas, Propane Gas, Electricity or Wood as fuel. None of the available Ovens or Grills offer fuel diversity on their usage. Constructed out of cast metal or mild steel, they are insulated to retain the desired temperature within their chamber. Most Ovens are provided with sealed front doors to keep the heat from escaping. All Ovens and Grills demand an Extract System to discharge burned up fuel into the environment through some kind of grease filtering panels.
Large Commercial Ovens are relatively expensive and are limited to various standard sizes. Wood Burning Ovens on the other hand are not commonly used because of their excessive weight and cost factor. These large Ovens are used specifically in restaurants and other commercial operations for baking pizzas and other foods that demand large deck cooking area and high temperatures.
Existing Ovens or Grills are sold separately in the market place and offer no other function but for either baking, roasting or broiling within their designated Chamber area.
According to the present invention the Open-Flame Oven and Grill provides fuel versatility and visual interaction during operation. The oven Chamber can be heated by either Natural Gas, Propane Gas or Wood burning, providing customers a choice to meet their demands.
Simultaneously, as an integral part of its design function the Open Flame Oven and Grill, it provides a Grill Chamber fuelled by either Natural Gas or Propane Gas. Burned up fuel is extracted through a duct system that discharges directly into the Oven Chamber enabling airborne grease particles to disintegrate due to the high temperature of the Oven Chamber before they are released into the environment as clean extract gases.
The Open-Flame Oven and Grill design is based on simplicity, natural gravity and heat flow principle to achieve desired results. Designed to withstand extensive performance under extreme working conditions it is also designed to minimise the need for ongoing costly repairs.
Free from any mechanical moving parts the easily assembled Open-Flame oven and Grill provides a natural self-cleaning process within its oven Chamber while in use, thus eliminating smoke, odours and grease particles escaping into the environment.
2 A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanied drawings in which:- Figure 1 shows the front view of the Open-Flame Oven and Grill, its shape and dimensions as per stated scale. It also shows finishing details and location of manual controls. The Oven and Grill openings are specifically designed avoiding the need to install doors. Visual observation at all times is therefore achieved during cooking period.
Figure 2 illustrates a cross section of the Open-Flame Oven and Grill its Ceramic deck, Dome frame, Base frame, Removable adjustable legs, oven chamber and Grill designated position.
Figure 3 illustrates a cross section and dimensions of the Dome Frame, Oven Chamber and Natural flow of air and heat movement. The chimney and temperature control Flue Damper is shown including the integrated Grill extract duct connected onto the Grill Chamber that terminates directly into the Oven Chamber.
Figure 4 shows side view of the Open-Flame Oven and Grill.
Figure 5 illustrates the Flue Damper being an integral part of the OpenFlame Oven and Grill.
Figure 6 illustrates top view of the Open-Flame Oven and Grill, the Extract duct location, and finishes.
Figure 7 illustrates the rear elevation, integrated duct system and termination point of the same.
Referring to the drawing Fig 2, the four adjustable Legs 10 are bolted 21 onto the pre-assembled Base Frame 22. Mild steel angled frame 12 is secured onto Legs 10 to facilitate Grill Chamber 2. The Grill 1 is placed into position as shown in Fig 1.
Dome Frame 19 is positioned onto Base Frame 22 and secured with bolts 24 as shown on Fig 2. Once Dome Frame 19 is secured over Frame Base 22 supported by Legs 10 with adjustable levelling bases 17, the Dome Frame 19 is cladded with rigid insulation 20 and cladded over with desired finishes.
Galvanised aluminium extract duct 3 is put in position and secured by using rivets and flameproof sealant upto termination point 5 as shown on Fig 3 and Fig 2. Chimney duct 4 is put in place as shown on Fig 3 and Flue Damper 6 is installed Fig 5. Gas burners 25 are put in position inside the Oven Chamber and Grill Chamber.
3 Ceramic deck 28 is placed into position inside Dome Frame 19 Fig 3 and Fig 2. Finishing cladding 14 and 16 is attached over Dome Frame 19. Stainless Steel Cover 15 is positioned over Base Frame 22 and 12.
Manual Gas control handles 7 and 8 are put in place Fig 1 including the installation of Magnetic Gas ignition controls 9 and Flue Damper control 6. Grill rack 18 is inserted into place inside Grill Chamber.
As an integral part of the OpenFlame Oven and Grill a 25m1 NPT Gas inlet 26 Fig 7 is provided for Gas connection under Base Frame 22 including a Thermostat 13 under Ceramic deck 28 as well as two Gas control valves 27.
To dismantle the Open-Flame Oven and Grill, the steps described above are carried out in the reverse sequence.
