Abstract

235,002. CortÚs, E. June 12, 1924. Chain pumps.-Crude oil is raised by a belt of leather, metal, or chain which passes over pulleys 10, 13 mounted upon a frame 4 adjustably pivoted on a horizontal frame 2 above the tank 1 and secured by struts 6 pivoted to slidable clamps 7. The belt is driven from a motor 24 through reducing gearing. The oil is removed by a tray 17 flexibly supported by hangers 18, and passes into a gutter or pipe 22. The lower pulley 13 is held in an elongated bearing 15 by adjustable tensioning-rods 16. The pulley 13 may be replaced by two small pulleys to allow a longer belt to be used.
