Abstract

234,615. Neame, J. L. May 5, 1924. Stands. - A brake or stand for cycles or other vehicles comprises a pair of toggle links A, B connected to the vehicle at P<1> and carrying a shoe C pivoted thereon. An anchoring rod or cable D extends from the shoe C to a fixed point on the vehicle and a second cable or rod is connected to the joint P<2> of the links by which the shoe can be forced into contact with the track. A spring C serves for raising the shoe. Diagonal rods or cables may extend from the shoe to the vehicle to prevent Lateral movement of the shoe. As applied to cycles, a pair of links A, B each carrying a shoe C may be mounted at each side of the frame on extensions of the rear spindle, the two operating rods or cables E being connected directly to an operating lever or to the ends of a cross-bar pivoted upon the lever to give a compensating or equalizing action as between the two shoes.
