Dust, separating from air and gases.-A dust separator comprises stacked horizontal plates having flaps punched out and bent to form distance pieces and baffles, the holes formed allowing the air or gas to pass through the plates; the angle at which the plates are bent being determined in accordance with the flow of gas. The flaps may, as shown in Fig. 6, be all bent up at the same angle, or they may be alternately reversely inclined. They may be disposed at opposite horizontal angles to the flow of the gas as shown in Fig. 4, or their traces on the plates may all be at right angles to the gas flow while they are quincuncially arranged. The distances along the line of the flow of successive rows of flaps may be consecutively diminished, or their lengths may be consecutively increased, for example in geometrical progression. The plates may be coated with oil &c.
