Abstract
234,035. Daniel, A. May 13,1924, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Reinforced-concrete columns and beams.-A concrete structure is provided with an external metal skeleton which is insufficient to carrv the load without the aid of the concrete, but is strong enough to stand firmly and carry the temporary shuttering. For a column, the skeleton consists of angle-irons 1, Fig. 1, braced by lattice bars or angle-irons 2. The shuttering 3 may be attached by binders 4. A similar skeleton, Fig. 2, for a beam, is made with the upper angle-irons 5<1> lighter than the lower angleirons 5; the braces 6 may be pierced to receive bars 9, more especially in the tension zone. A smooth finish may be obtained by applying a concrete coating.
