Protective arrangements.- In a safety arrangement for electric conductors having a thin metallic sheet m embedded in the insulation i<1>, i<2> at an equipotential surface at such a small distance from the conductor l that with a short-circuit between the conductor and the sheet no practical reduction of safety is produced, the sheet does not carry any of the main current and the disappearance of the normal small potential difference v between the conductor and the sheet causes the cutting out of the endangered line or an announcement of the danger by means of apparatus controlled directly by the potential difference. Such apparatus may comprise a tension transformer or an electrometer and an automatic switch having a minimum cut-out, or a recording voltmeter.
