Abstract

543,331. Electric railways. BROOKMAN, O. J. R. July 18, 1940, No. 11871. [Class 104 (iii)] A conductor rail 1 for an electric railway is provided with an electric heater 2 taking current from the rail or a companion rail. The heater may be a plate 2 insulated at 4, 5 or a wire 6 on an insulator 7, and may be enclosed in a casing 9. Several heaters 26, 26<SP>1</SP> are arranged along the conductor or switched on by relay switches 11, 11<SP>1</SP> under the control of a master switch 13.
