Abstract

233,503. Dabb, W. April 22, 1924. Mops.-Mop fabric 7 is attached to a shaft 5 which is rotatably mounted in bearings on a U- shaped frame 3 and is provided with a hand-lever 6 so that when the shaft is rotated the fabric is wrung by being compressed within a porous strip 21. The strip is attached at one end to the shaft 5 and at the other end to a detachable crossbar 14 passing through holes in the frame 3. The mop fabric is doubled over a, rod 8 and is secured by a U-shaped keeper member 9 the limbs of which pass through holes in the shaft 5 and are screw-threaded to receive nuts 12. The rod 14 is fitted at one end with a wing-nut 18 and is formed at the other end for engagement, through spring means, with the stem of the hand-lever 6. In a modified construction, the porous strip is replaced by a spring-pressed roller with its ends sliding in slots in the arms of the frame 3, the mop, on the rotation of the shaft 5, being squeezed between the shaft and the roller.
