To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WVILLIAM J. DENNIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Squeegees, of which the following is a description.

My invention belongs to that general class of devices known as squeegees, which are generally used for window cleaning and like purposes. The invention has among its objects the production of a device of the kind described that is simple, convenient, compact, durable, reliable, efficient, and satisfactory for use wherever found applicable. The same has particularly as an object the production of a device of the kind described constructed to prevent the Water wiped from the surface by the squeegee from'running down the handle or pole or dropping onto the user. Many other objects and advantages of the construction herein shown and described will be obvious to those skilled in the art from the disclosure herein given.

To this end my invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described, and more particularly pointed out in the claims.

Referring to the drawings, the squeegee consists of a head provided with one or more strips or plies of suitable material, such asrubber, rubber composition, or the equivalent, which are mounted in a suitable head provided with a handle for convenience in operating. The squeegee shown consists of the strips 1, 2 and 3, there being any desired number, andthe same being of the desired size and shape. Arranged with the strips is a head part consisting of a plate 4., Which is preferably bent over as at 5, with the edge 6 brought adjacent to the edge of the part 4:.

In order to prevent the water running down the handle onto the operator, I form the strip 7 with a turned over portlon 12 extending substhntially from end to end of the device, and forming what may be termed a trough, so that water running down, for example, the strip 3 and over the plate 7, will be caught in the trough and may run out at either or both ends. The same, however, will not run down the handle or pole, or drop directly onto the user, and consequently will not affect the user of the device. The same is extremely convenient, and the turned over portion also stiifens the plate 7 and tends to give rigidity to the head without in any way affecting the flexibility of the strips carried between the plates.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A squeegee comprising a head consisting of flexible material, and a plate engaging one side of said material, a second plate disposed upon the other side of said ma: terial and having a rebent part extending toward the working surface of the flexible material and providing a trough, and means for securing said plates together.

2.
