Abstract

These safety means are characterized in that they comprise on the carrycot C guides 1, 2, 3 for the passage of straps B attached to the motorcar, said guides being arranged transversally to the carrycot in two opposite areas of the latter. The straps arranged transversally on the carrycot may correspond to the bandolier of the safety belts of the motorcar itself. Some of the guides have a locking device that holds the corresponding strap and comprises a stationary, longitudinal element and a shiftable part having a groove facing said element, the strap or bandolier passing between said element and part and being held by the engagement of the shiftable part against said stationary element, the shiftable part being locked in said engagement position by means of a control with eccentric.

Description

Safety means for motorcar-transPortable carrycots, convertible carrvcot-seats and the like The present invention refers to safety means for motorcar-transportable carrycots, convertible carrycotseats and the like.
Already well known is the risk babies run when transported in a carrycot or the like arranged on the back seat of a motorcar.
In order to secure the carrycot or the like on the car seat several means have been provided consisting, for example, in equipping the carrycot with an external frame provided with attachments for safety strappings, in providing the carrycot with yokes on its front ends also for the passage of safety strappings, or in providing on one of the sides of the carrycot attachments for said strappings.
These known safety means are generally complex, and some of them do not fully assure that it will be impossible for the carrycot or the like to be overturned.
It is the object of this invention to provide safety means that from the aesthetic point of view do not compare unfavourably with the finish of the carrycot or the like, said means using as safety strappings the very safety belts that are already fitted to the motorcar and also allowing to fasten the carrycot in two opposite transversal areas thereby providing a great safety in face of a collision or sudden braking of the car.
Characteristic of these safety means is the fact of comprising on the carrycot or the like guides for the passage of the bandolier of the safety belts, said guides being arranged in a lined up arrangement transversally to the carrycot in two opposite areas of the latter.
At least one of the guides of each opposite area where they are arranged has a locking device that holds the corresponding strap or bandolier.
Although several devices are already known for the aforementioned purpose which have different means to achieve said holding, such as sliding wedges, articulated pincers, turning cylinders and others, this new device has been devised to provide a secure holding effect in a quick way and with simple means.
This new device does essentially comprise a stationary, longitudinal element and a shiftable part having a groove facing said element, the strap or the like passing between said stationary element and shiftable part and being held by the engagement of the shiftable part against said stationary element, said shiftable part being locked in said engagement position by means of a control with eccentric.
These and other characteristics will be best made apparent by the following detailed description whose understanding will be made easier by the accompanying two sheets of drawings showing a practical embodiment cited only by way of an example which does not limit the scope of the invention.
In the drawings: Fig. 1 illustrates in a perspective view a carrycot arranged on the back seat of a motorcar and secured with the safety means in question; Fig. 2 shows in a perspective view the carrycot with the arrangement of the guides for the safety straps; Fig. 3 indicates in a side elevation the carrycot secured on the car seat, and Figs. 4 and 5 represent in a perspective view and in a side elevation respectively the guide comprising a strap locking device as seen in the passive and active position respectively, and Fig. 6 shows in a longitudinal section said device in the active position.
According to the drawings, these safety means comprise on the carrycot -C- two lined up arrangements of guides provided transversally in opposite areas of the carrycot, said guides being arranged on one of the sides of the latter and on its bottom, one -1- of them figuring at the upper edge of the carrycot, another one -2- being located at the lower edge of the latter, and a third one -3- being situated on the bottom of said carrycot, guides -1- and -2- having their opening facing the centre of the carrycot whereas guides -3- have their opening oriented in the opposite direction, i.e. facing the ends of the carrycot.
The corresponding bandolier -B- of the pertinent safety belt -S- of the car itself passes through these guides in each opposite area.
Guides -1- have a locking device that holds the corresponding bandolier -B-, said device comprising a turning control lever -4- with eccentric head -5- which acts by pressing a shiftable half -6- of the guide against the other stationary half -7- of the latter, said stationary half forming a longitudinal protrusion that fits into a groove -8- of the shiftable half -6-.
These safety means can equally be applied to a convertible carrycot-seat. In the case represented with dash lines in the drawings the convertible carrycot-seat comprises the seat -A-, the back -R-, the footrest -Pand a complement -0-, said seat having an articulated handle -T-. In this case the corresponding guide -1- will be incorporated in the handle -T- itself.
At one of its ends part -6- forms a cavity -9- to house there the eccentric head -5- of the control lever -4-.
Said part -6- and control lever -4- are fitted to a bolt -10- mounted in the body of carrycot -C- thereby securing part -6- at one of its ends as it extends loosely through a hole -11- provided in said end of said part, the head of control lever -4- being pin-jointed to the end of said bolt by means of a pin -12-.
The holding of the crossing band -B- of the safety belt of a motorcar is obtained by passing it between the stationary element -7- and the shiftable part -6- when the control lever -4- is in the open position (Fig. 4), thereupon actuating the control lever by turning it upon part -6- as indicated by arrow -F-, the eccentric head -5- thereby pressing the shiftable part -6- against the stationary element -7-, the band -B- being thus gripped between said element and the groove -8- of said part (Figs. 5 and 6). In order to facilitate the passage of band -B- laterally between element -7- and part -6- the free end of each of the latter will be arcuately chamfered.
To remove the band -B- it will suffice to turn control lever -4- in the opposite direction.
