Rollers or cylinders.-Inking rollers for printing machines, stated to be applicable for other purposes, comprise a body of rubber, printers' roller composition, or other elastic material, and a thin covering layer of leather, " special rubber," or other material which is unaffected by ink, entirely enclosing the body. The body may be cast upon the metal roller spindle and a rubber covering layer cast upon the body, the body and laver being then vulcanized together, or the covering layer may be formed as a sleeve of slightly smaller diameter than the body and be forced over the body which has previously been vulcanized. The sleeve is reinforced with fabric to prevent longitudinal stretch.
