Abstract
232,526. Progression Soc. Anon., (Assignees of Lauba Werk Akt.-Ges.). Sept. 22, 1924, [Convention date]. Variable-speed gearing comprises rotary driving and driven elements a, d mutual eccentricity connected by a ring of blocks f<1> which are gripped at one point in their orbit between two mutually eccentric circular members a<1>, a<2>. The blocks f<1> are supported upon sliders f which move in radial slots d<1> in the driven disc d, and as they go round in their eccentric track, they move alternately faster and slower, the difference being a function of the eccentricity. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the driving-member a is a belt pulley which is bodily moved at right angles to the line of belting to vary the eccentricity of the pair of rotary grip members a<1>, a<2>, and so to vary the speed ratio. The pulley a and grip members a<1>, a<2> rotate together on a non- rotary boss c which slides in a fixed guide k when moved for the purpose by control handle m. The mutual eccentricity of the grip members a<1>, a<2>, is adjusted by an eccentric pin g<1> upon a handlever g. When the members a<1>, a<2> are set concentrically, the drive is disconnected. A modification is described in which the gripping device is duplicated and is carried by a double member sldably transversely between a pair of coaxial radially-grooved driving and driven discs. The grip members are controlled simultaneously by a spindle passing through the hand-wheel controlling the speed ratio.
