Abstract

232,382. Longden, R. March 3, 1924. Splints; limbs, artificial.- An adjustable splint comprises tubular uprights 7 carrying rotatable thimbles 9 which are threaded to receive screwed rods 8 carrying a stump support 5. The rods 8 are provided with lock nuts 10 and may be made in two parts united by a threaded piece 11. The support 5 consists of a metal ring 12 surrounded by a pad which may be made of sponge rubber. The pad is split to enable it to be fitted over the ring 12. The lower ends of the uprights 7 are bent inwards and support a foot plate 6, or other end-piece if the splint is to be used for supporting a fractured arm. The appliance may be enclosed in an outer casing and may be provided with a bucket to receive an amputated limb.
