Abstract

231,931. Kalinosky, A. Jan. 8, 1924. Returning soumd-box to starting point; raising- sound-boxes; tone-arm joints. - Repeating mechanism comprises a cam for lifting the soundbox and a worm for returning the tone-arm, thecam and worm being clutched to a rotating shaft, at the completion of the playing of the record, by mechanism actuated by an arm on the tonearm. Mechanism is provided for adjusting the starting and stopping positions of the tone-arm to suit different sized records. As shown, a worm 67, having keyed to it a shaft carrying a cam 87, is adapted to be clutched to a rotating shaft 57- by a spring-pressed bolt 70 normally held in the unclutched position by a spring detent 75. The detent is released after the playing of a record, by a sliding pin 80 which is actuated by an arm 50 projecting from the tone-arm and moving therewith. The rotating cam acts on a system of levers and a connecting chain 33, 31, 30, 27 to raise the sound-box 25, and the end of the arm 50 then comes into engagement with the rotating- worm so that the tone-arm is turned. This movement of the tone-arm continues until the finger 50 is lifted from the worm 67 by a bent lever 102, 103, 104, Fig. 4, which is raised by a projection 85, rotating with the worm. The lever 102 is longitudinally adjustable in accordance with the external diameter of the sound record and the angular position of the arm 50 on the tone arm is adjustable in accordance with the inner diameter. The sound-box is carried by a T-piece pivoted in the end of the tone-arm and provided with handles 20, 21.
