Abstract

231,905. Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon. April 5, 1924, [Convention date]. Electric braking.-Control systems for the motors of electric vehicles are provided with emergency switches operated by the driver or passengers, whereby the normal motor circuits shown in Figs. 2 and 3 for series and parallel running can be converted into electric braking circuits show in Figs. 5 and 5a. The braking effect is obtained in part rheostatically, one or both motors being closed on a braking resistance BW, and in part through track brakes Sch energized by the motors running as generators or by the line current, forward and backward braking being obtained with the same connections. The emergency switches may be combined with a " dead man's handle."
