Abstract

2-Acetoxy-4-methoxybenzoic acid is prepared by heating 4-methoxy-2-oxybenzoic acid with acetic anhydride. The product possesses antipyretic properties. An example is given. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes the production of the alkali salts, which also possess antipyretic properties. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
