Abstract

231,576. Hill, T. Jan. 1, 1924. Aerating processes.-Water for production of mineral waters and other beverages, before it passes to the aerating-machine, is deprived of contained air by treatment with carbon dioxide under pressure. In the apparatus shown, carbon dioxide from a cylinder D is injected through a perforated pipe C into water in a covered tank A provided with an overflow a<1>. The tank may 'be replaced by a dome-shaped vessel fitted with a pressure gauge, a gas-escape valve, and a waterlevel indicator, and the water-inlet pipe B may be fitted with a rose. In a modified apparatus the water is treated in such a pressure vessel as described, and again in a tank A, the flow of water to the vessel and from the vessel to the tank being controlled by ball float valves.
