Abstract

231,214. Bucknall, H. A. July 30, 1924. Reel and non-endless web apparatus. -In a map-holder, the spools c, d on which the map is rolled are provided with spur pinions g, h, adapted to be engaged by a hand-driven spur wheel i, which is moved axially to drive one or other of the spur pinions, means being provided for holding the driving spur wheel in gear with either pinion against slight endwise pressure. The holding means consists of a spring- pressed pin l on the bearing j<1> engaging with either of the circumferential grooves n on the spindle j. Blade springs o bear against the ends of the spools c, d to maintain the map in tension.
