Abstract
477,943. Kinematograph apparatus. ZEISS IKON AKT.-GES. May 4, 1937, No. 12744. Convention date, May 8, 1936. [Class 97 (i)] In sound-film apparatus having a filmdriven rotatable drum film guide and a pair of interconnected sprockets or a single sprocket over which the film passes during its passage both to and from the drum, the sprockets are driven solely by the film and means are provided for tensioning the part of the film between the sprockets or sprocket and the guide. The tension necessary to draw the film over the guide is less than that applied by the tensioning means. As shown the film-driven sprockets T<1>, T<2> are carried respectively on gears Z<1>, Z<2> interconnected by a gear Z<o>, the sprocket T<1> being connected to the gear Z<1> by a spring K so that on threading the film over the guide B a tension S can be applied to the film. The film F is fed by a sprocket T' and drawn over the guide by a sprocket T<3>, an oil or air stream D assisting to drive the guide. Where a single sprocket is used the tension is applied by a roller spring- pressed against the film between the guide and the sprocket.
