Abstract

A suitable organic acid or salt is added to a titanous salt of a mineral acid in order to prevent the precipitation of titanic oxide during the use of the titanous salt solution for stripping or discharging dyes. The following organic acids and salts are mentioned as suitable, citric, tartaric, oxalic, lactic, and succinic acids, sodium and calcium citrates and sodium oxalate. The organic acids may be used instead of a part of the mineral acid in the preparation of the titanous salt, and the solution may be concentrated until it becomes solid or semi-solid on cooling. The solidification may be facilitated by adding aluminium sulphate. Alternatively, a solid titanous salt such as titanous sodium sulphate may be mixed with the solid organic salt or acid such as citric or oxalic acid or their sodium salts. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 9847/01 and 19117/10.ALSO:A suitable organic acid or salt is added to a titanous salt of a mineral acid in order to prevent the precipitation of titanic oxide during the use of the titanous salt solution for stripping or discharging dyes.
