Gas, supplying by meter.-The measuring-out mechanism comprises a pair of intermeshing gear wheels f, e the smaller e being operated by prepayment and the larger f carrying a further wheel g which meshes with a screwed sleeve h slidably mounted on a slotted shaft i to act ehther as a rack or as a worm. A pin j on the sleeve engages the slot k in the shaft i which is disposed transversely across the casing a containing the coin mechanism and is of a length substantially equal to the diameter of that casing. The shaft t i is mounted in a framework comprising sides m and a bridge-piece n which is slotted to guide a rod s carrying a pointer p to indicate the amount of gas unconsumed. The rod s is carried by an extension r of a bracket g which receives longitudinal movement from the sleeve and has a pin for operating the valve. A spring u is provided between the framework and the bracket q to prevent damage due to the insertion of too many coins at a time. The shaft i has a pinion o acting as the tangent or meter driven wheel. The coin mechanism may be that described in Specification 205,162 or 208,181. Price-changing mechanism such as described in Specifications 26278/10, 183,156, or 208,181, may be used. The valve may be operated as described in Specification 230,582.
