Abstract

230,007. Beardsley, E. 0., and Piper, W. F. Feb. 28, 1924, [Convention date]. Moulding-machines.-In apparatus for packing sand as described in Specification 137,963 the rotary projector 18, Fig. 4, has two side walls 19<a>, 19<b> well spaced from the casing 24 and acts in conjunction with a detachable hard metal strip 38, Fig. 6. The projector is mounted on the rotor 14 by interengaging teeth 20, 21 and a bolt 23 and the strip 38 is secured by a rivet abutment 43 and a bolt 44. The rotor is driven from a shaft 13 through a cap 16 and runs on bearings 15, Fig. 4, on the tubular support 12. The casing 24 has a removable cover 34 with handles 36 for manipulating the projector and is mounted on the support 12 by means of a split hub 25 and bolts 26. The casing also carries a pulley 29, for a sand delivery belt 28, adjustable by means of a slot 31 and bolts 32, Fig. 1, and the switch gear for controlling the driving motor. The switch box 50 contains insulated terminals connected to the motor control and has " start " and " stop " buttons 56.
