Abstract

229,673. Caretta, E. Feb. 19, 1924, [Convention date]. Plates, securing tubes to. - Relates to means whereby a fitting 4, carrying a tube 3, it attached to a thin-walled receptacle 1, provided with a hole 2. The fitting 4 comprises a plug having a flange 5 of a diameter slightly less than the diameter of the hole 2, upon which is located an annulus 6, having a larger diameter than said hole and a radial split or cut-away portion 7. The end of the plug 4 opposite the flange 5 is screwthreaded to receive a nut 8. In assembling, the flange 5 is inserted into the receptacle 1 and then the resilient annulus 6, by enabling one of its split ends to enter the hole 2 and rotating it about its axis, after which the nut 8 clamps the fitting in position by causing the flange 5 thereof to force the annulus 6 against the internal edge of the hole 2. A washer 9 and a rubber disc 10 are preferably arranged between the wall 1 and nut 8. The annulus 6 and flange 5 may be provided with a coacting lug and recess 11, 12 respectively adapted to prevent rotation of the plug 4, due to friction between the annulus and the plate 1, when the nut 8 is rotated.
