228,675. Hayward, E. Dec. 11, 1923. Head-sets.-Telephone receivers are supported on a yoke piece adapted to be fitted over the shoulders of the user. Two arched strips a, Fig. 1, engage over the shoulders and are connected in a resilient manner by a third arch c. The front portion of each shoulderarch shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2 may be omitted. The three arches may be formed from a single strip bent as shown in Fig. 2, and a transmitter h may be mounted on the middle of the strip. A spring g attached to a screwed rod g<1> fixed by means of a nut g<2> serves to regulate the position of the arches. The shoulder arches may be joined by a strip lying over the back of the user and the receivers be supported on an arch fixed to a bracket on this rear portion. Each receiver d is mounted on an arm e having a slot e<1> through which a pin having a clamping nut f is passed, but it may be mounted on a spring arm. Each receiver d may be carried by a rod d', Fig. 8, adjustable back and forth in a bulb b<1> which can turn in slots in brackets b. The rod d' is surrounded by a spring d<2>. In another form, Fig. 5, the shoulder strips a carry an arched support a<1> from which is suspended a carrier I for the receivers d. The carrier l is adjustable by means of a stem carrying a head m<2> and a ball m<1> which passes through a slot a<3> in the support a<1> and a slot l<1> in the carrier l. The head m<2> is attached to opposed springs n, and frictional engagement of the parts is ensured by a spring arm pressing together the ball m<1>, the carrier l and the support a<1>. The strips or yokes in all modifications may be covered with leather or similar material, and if they are made of two wires, these may be kept apart by inserting them in the edges of a leather covering. The yoke may be shaped to engage under the arms of the user instead of over the shoulder.
