Abstract

824,876. Sight-testing apparatus. WINGATE Ltd., M., WINGATE, D. M., and HILLMAN, D. C. S. March 21, 1958 [March 14, 1957], No. 8518/57. Class 97(1) A sight testing trial frame includes two side arms, each carrying resilient means adapted to grip the head in the region of the temples. As shown, the trial frame comprises a main bar 12, having hinged thereto at 16 side arms 17 in the form of a length of stainless steel spring wire bent to elongated U-shape. Extending forwardly from the rear end of each arm is a resilient arm 24 also of stainless steel spring wire, this arm terminating in a plastic pad 25 for gripping the head of the wearer near the temples. Adjustable horizontally and vertical on the main bar 12 are trial lens holders, each comprising a ring 61 and spaced part rings 63. Integral with each ring 61 is an upstanding bar 27, which passes through slots in a channel member 29, the upper and lower sides of which extend over the bar 12. This member is clamped on the bar by a screw 38, passing through a tubular nut 35 having lugs 36 engaging slots 37 of the channel member, and pressing against a clamping piece 40. Attached to the bar 27 is a strip 43 having vertical serrations and between this strip and a horizontally serrated strip 45 attached to the bar 12, are two members 47 one being horizontally serrated and the other vertically serrated.
