Abstract

An adjustable clip for attaching an umbrella to a pram or wheelchair comprises a length adjustable shaft 5, 6 and a screw clamp 1, 2 at each end. <IMAGE>

Description

UMBRELLA CLIP This invention relates to an umbrella clip.
The invention is to allow an umbrella to be used in instances where it is currently difficult or impossible (ie where both hands are required eg on a pram/wheelchair use).
According to the present invention there is provided an umbrella clip, means of securing this clip to both an umbrella and to the required object (eg pram/wheelchair).
The clip being adjustable in both height and attachment size.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the side view of the clip Referring to the drawing the unit is tightened on to a pram/wheelchair handle 4 at the lower end using the nut and bolt tightener 1.
An umbrella 3 is then adjoined to the unit by use of the other identical nut and bolt tightener 2 in the same manner.
In order to adjust the length of the unit's shaft to allow for height variations in users there are a number of holes 7, 8 & 9 drilled into the two interslotting sections of the shaft 5 & 6. The height adjuster is a ball pushed from behind by a spring. The height of the unit is adjusted by pushing the ball against the springs action then sliding the outer shaft 6 over the inside shaft 5 until the ball reaches the desired height selection.
The umbrella is released by loosening the top nut and bolt joint. The unit itself is released from the pram/wheelchair by loosening the base nut and bolt joint to an extent that the unit can turn and be pulled free. To prevent damage to either umbrella or pram/wheelchair the inside of the nut and bolt unit is coated with a rubber section 10.

Claims (3)

  1. An umbrella clip comprising a unit with a tightening clamp at either end.
  2. 2 An umbrella clip as claimed in Claim 1 which is adjustable in height by means of a number of height adjusters on the shaft.
  3. 3 An umbrella clip substantially as described herein with reference to Figure 1 the accompanied drawing.
