Abstract
228,492. Vansickle, M. E. Feb. 2, 1924, [Convention date]. Friction gearing. - Means for obtaining fine adjustment of an instrument shaft such as that of electric condenser, coil-holder, &c. comprises a disc-shaped dial 4 adapted to be secured to the shaft 2, for example by a set-screw 15. A small wheel 9, preferably having a flexible rim is mounted in a slot at right angles to a radius of the dial so as to roll on the instrument panel 1 through which the shaft 2 passes the instrument being set by manual operation of the wheel 9. The wheel is centred on a sleeve rotatablv mounted on a pin 11 screwed into a bush in the disc. Coarse adjustment is obtained by operation of a knob 5 integral with the dial. The dial may be bevelled and may be enlarged in the neighbourhood of the slot.
