Horns, arranging and supporting.-Relates to sound-reproducing ap paratus of the kind ir which sound is trans mitted from both sides of the diaphragm t< separate horns. In orde: to emphasise or bring out individually the higher pitched tones and the lower tones dissimilar expanding sound-emission pass ages, horns, or the like are associated with the sound-box, one such horn or passage being shorter and having a smaller mouth area than the other. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, the soundbox 9 has attached thereto on opposite sides tubes 3, 13, the tube 3 being connected to a tone-arm 2 which leads to a " bass " horn (not shown) within the cabinet, and the tube 13 being connected to a " tenor " horn 12. Means are provided for compensating for the weight of the horn 12 to avoid undue pressure of the stylus on the record. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the smaller horn 12 passes into the larger horn 6, which in this case is external to the cabinet. The horn 6 is supported on trunnions 16 in a swivelling fork 17 which may be mounted on ball-bearings. A spring 22 is provided as shown to adjust the stylus pressure. The Provisional Specification refers to Specifications 132,408, 178,911, and 201,328, and also describes a modification in which two horns lying one outside the other are provided, the larger one having an extended neck passing through the back of an elbow bend in the small horn and returning outside the latter.
