Crank linkages.-To vary the stroke of a rod g driven from a constant speed shaft b, a block d carried on an eccentric c or cam on the shaft engages a slot in a bush e rotatable in the strap f of the rod g. The bush e carries lugs e<1> which slide in grooves in a disc j, which can be set by a handle k<1> to any angle within a range of 90‹ and locked in position by a nut m. The longitudinal reciprocation of the strap f on the rod g varies from a maximum with the lugs e<1> in the position shown to zero when the lugs are vertical. The block d may engage with cushioning-springs at the ends of its travel in its slot.
