Abstract

226,464. Gordon, S. H., and Rose Street Foundry & Engineering Co., Ltd. Sept. 19, 1924. Seamed and welded joints. - Steel drums and other containers of the kind in which the head &c. is fixed to the body by electric resistance welding are formed with a reinforced edge by arranging a length of wire or rod a round the end or head and pressing, reeling or otherwise bending either or both the end of the body or the edge of the head or cover. The lines of welding are shown at b. Wire of square, round, half-round or triangular section may be used. In Fig. 1 the edge 2 of the end 1 may be carried only part of the way round the wire and the edge 3 may be carried round with the edge of the head.
