Description

COLOUR CODED MOTOR VEHICLE TYRE The basic idea of a colour coded system, is to warn vehicle owner's of impending tyre tread ware.

EXAMPLE OF IDEA USING RED AS UNDERLYING COLOUR - AS FOLLOWS: The underlying red tread will gradually become visable when the top black tread wares away, thus warning the vehicle owner that the tyre should be replaced for safety.

FIGURE 2 PAGE 5 shows example of tread ware white spots representing red tread gradually appearing through the receding black outer tread; Thus warning the driver that the tyre should be replaced for safety.

Should the tyre not be replaced at first instance, the red tread becomes more prominent with further use: SEE FIGURE 3 PAGE 5 hatching representing all red surface, warning the driver that the tyre is now illegal and dangerous to use.

MULTI COLOURED LAYERS: Can be used to alert vehicle owners of the quality of grip lost through partial and furtherance of tread ware.

Each coloured layer in the multi code tyre representing grip quality lost in percentage terms from new, BLACK outer tread new to 808 grip quality BLUE tread 70% grip quality RED tread, showing through replace tyre This type of tyre ideal for heavy goods vehicles.

The road hauler or car driver can change tyres when he or she decides that the - tread ware has become a liability personally; using a matching colour chart showing - percentage grip from new.

Claims (3)

1. A colour coded motor vehicle tyre comprises of underlying colour, inserted beneath and within that of the outer tyre tread.

2. A colour coded motor vehicle tyre inserted with a single colour beneath within that of the outer tyre tread indicates a visable warning to replace the tyre when the inserted underlying colour is exposed, as the top outer tread wears down to a minimum tread depth allowed under tyre safety regulations.

3. A colour coded motor vehicle tyre inserted with more than one underlying colour beneath and within that of the outer tread. Indicates visual warning, as to the degree of grip lost as the outer tyre tread wears down during use exposing each underlying colour in turn.

The final colour exposed indicates minimum tread depth allowed under tyre safety regulations.
