Abstract
A wear indicator comprising a moulded strip or band of reflective or illuminant coloured rubber is incorporated in a tyre as shown at A and extends fully round the circumference of the tyre. The wear indicator may be at a depth of 1.5mm or 0.5mm depending upon the type of vehicle upon which the tyre will be used.
Description
LI@ITEL LIGHT TREAL WEAR INDICATOR.
Th@is invention is concerned with vehicle safety.
Many tyres exist but they all present a similar characteristic drawback.
At night or in a dim-lit situaticn a badly worn tyre tread would go
un-noticed therefore not showing that a crime has been committed.
To overcome the problem, a limited tight Tread Vear Indicator comprising
a reflective or illuminant coloured dyed rubber or a rubber reflective
illuminant strip or band moulded to the identical shape of a tyres tread
within it's 360@ circum@erence under the required legal tread depth, that
being at least 1.6mm on cars, light vans and light trailers.
The limited tight Tread Wear Indicator would be inserted at a depth of
15mm on a car, light van and light trailer and at 0-5mm for other
vehicles such as lorries, buses etc,or vehicles requiring a legal tread
depth of at least lmm.
The invention will now be further described with reference to the
accompanying drawings. in which:
Big 1 shows an inside view of a ty@ical tyre and where devise would be inserted, indioated by arrows B,covering the complete width of tread
C,
Fig 2 shows a typical tyre showing where device A, would be inserted
indicated by arrows B,covering the colnplete width of tread C, plus
other parts of a tyre simply described.
1 Sidewall-protects the casing from side-scuffing,also controls vehicle 'tyre-ride' characteristics and assists in tread support.
2 Casing Cords-layers of textile or steel wire lying under the tread to
stiffen the casing, therefore allowing improved wear performance and
handling response.
3 Sidewall Cords-used to reinforce it's sidewalls.
4 Beads-steel wire loops which anchor the cords and also lock the tyre
onto the wheel assembly so that it will not slip on the wheel rim.
According to the invention,on cnrs, licht vans and light trailers, the said reflective or illuminant coloured dyed rubber or å rubber reflective illuminant strip or band would be moulded to the i@entical hape 0. a tyres tread within it's 360 circumference, inset at a tread depth of 1#5mm.
In relation to other vehicles eg,lorries, buses etc,the reflective or illuminant coloured dyed rubber or a reflective/illuminant rubber tri or band would be moulded to the identical shape of a tyres tread within it's 360 circumference inset at a tread depth of 0#5mm.
Thousands of bold tyres filter there way through the legal system causing numerous accidents and deaths throughout our cities day and night.
At day-time bold or very badly worn tyres can randomly be found out by pclice forces throughout the nation by way of general vehicle spot checks or finally found out after an unfortunate accident, but at night most seriously worn tyres go undetected so they escape the human eye.
But if the said invention was incorperated into tyre treads, bold tyres would be known to all including the(Culprits) or (evades) themselves.
A police patrol car patrolling an area could pin-point a vehicle at night whether moving or stationary and point out the evidence to the owner.
The invention would make people far more aware of defective tyres and more cautious, but most of all it would cut down on vehicle accidents and save lives.
