Motor power plant; driving and transmission mechanism, special applications of.-In a turbine which comprises a high-pressure section 11 exhausting into a lower pressure section 12 and having the shafts 13, 15 of the two sections geared together, the low-pressure section is mounted in an overhung manner. The ratio of the gearing 14, 16 is such that the last blades of the high-pressure system have a greater peripheral speed than those of the lower pressure blade system. The sum of the radii of the gears 14, 16 is greater than the radius of the largest high-pressure disc so that the high-pressure section may be offset radially to the low-pressure shaft. The high-pressure section may be one receiving the exhaust from a previous section 17 and the lower pressure section may exhaust to another section or to the condenser. The toothed gearing may be situated between the sections. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the mounting of the high-pressure section on the supply portion of the low-pressure section casing by means of its discharge conduit and the arranging of the sum of the squares of the blade speeds in the high-pressure section to be greater than the sum in the low-pressure sections. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
