Abstract

A cooking device comprises an outer pot element having an opening on the bottom to receive heat thereinto and preferably a plurality of lugs for lifting the outer pot element, an inner pan element disposed inside the outer pot element to provide eg the cooking functions of frying and stewing, a grid element which can be either disposed on the inner pan element to provide the functions of steaming, toasting and baking or directly disposed inside the outer pot element without the use of the inner pan element to provide eg the functions of barbecuing, roasting and smoking, and a cover to cover the cooking device. <IMAGE>

Description

TITLE: COOKING DEVICE FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present relates generally to a cooking device and in particular to one having a plurality of cooking functions, such as frying, steaming, barbecuing, roasting, toasting, baking and defreezing foods.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Conventionally, a particular cooking device usually has only one on at most two cooking functions.

Different cooking devices are necessary in preparing different kinds of food. This may not be inconvenient when one is preparing foods indoors. Nevertheless, it increases one's troubles when one is leaving his house and doing cooking outdoors, such as when one is camping.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a cooking device which has the functions of frying, B-B-Q, roasting, toasting, baking, etc.

It is a further object of the present invention to provide a cooking device which, besides cooking foods, is capable of defreezing foods.

Other and further features, advantages and benefits of the invention will become apparent in the following description taken in conjunction with the following drawings. It is to be understood that the foregoing seneral description and the following detailed description are exemplary and explanatory but are not to be restrictive of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS With reference to the drawings and in particular to Fig.11 a cooking device in accordance with the invention comprises a lid element 1, a grid element 2, an inner pot element 3, and an outer pot element 4.

The outer pot element 4 is a deep pot-like element .pa having an opening 41 formed on the bottom thereof and a plurality of lugs 42, preferably symmetrically 'attached on the side wall thereof to provide means for lifting the cooking device. The inner pot element 3 is a panlike element having a plurality of ventilation holes 31 formed on a first circumferential flange 32 attached on the top edge of the pan-like element. A second circumferential flange 33 which is further attached to the first circumferential flange 31 to form a first shoulder 34 which mates a second shoulder 43 formed on the top edge of the deep pot-like element 4 to support the pan-like element 3 thereon.The depth of the deep pot-like element 4 is greater than that of the pan-like element 3 so as to form a space therebetween when the pat-like element 3 is supported inside the deep potlike element 4.

When the outer pot element 4 is placed on a stove or a campfire or any suitable 'neat-source (not shown) and the inner pan element 3 is disposed therein, the inner pan element 3 can be used to boil, fry, toast food.

The grid element 2, when necessarily, is placed on the first circumferential flange 32 of the inner pan element 3 to provide means for roasting and steaming foods. The grid element 2 has a pair of lifting ears 21 formed thereon the convenience of removing and/or disposing the grid.

The lid element 1 is used to cover the cooking device and is provide with a knob 12 on the top thereof for removing the lid element 1. On the lid element 1 is provided a closable hold (not shown in the drawings) which is controlled by a tab 13 slidable between a first position, in which the hole is closed.

With reference particularly to Fig.2, a second embodiment of the present invention is shown. In this example, the inner pan element 3 is used solely, without the grid element 2. In Fig.3, a third embodiment of the present invention is shown, wherein the grid element 2 is used solely, without the inner pan element 3 and is directly placed on a third shoulder 44 formed inside and closely to the bottom of the outer pot element 4 so as to provide means for barbecuing or smoking foods.

The invention herein has been described in an illustrative manner and it is understood that the description of the preferred embodiments is for the purposes of illustration, rather than limitation. It is to be understood that the invention may be practiced otherwise than as specifically described herein and yet remains within the scope of the appended claims.

Claims

WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:

1. A cooking device comprising: an outer pot element which is a deep pot-like element having a bottom with a circumferential side wall formed thereon, said outer pot element having an opening formed on said bottom thereof for receiving and keeping heat therein and a plurality of lugs preferably generally symmetrically attached on said side wall; an inner pan element which is a pa-lik element with a circumferential flange attached on a top edge thereof and a plurality of holes formed on said flange, said inner pan element being so disposed inside said outer pot element that a space is formed between the bottom of said outer pot element and said inner pan element;; a grid element which is so shaped that it is able to place on said inner pan element when said inner pot is disposed inside said outer pot element and it is able to place directly and solely inside said outer pot element when said inner pan element is not used; and a lid element for covering said outer pot element which has a knob for lift said lid element and a closable hole controlled by a tab slidable between a first position in which said closable hole is open and a second position in which said closable hole is closed.

A cooking device as claimed in claim 1 wherein said inner pan element has a first circumferential shoulder formed around said flange thereof to be received and supported by a second circumferential shoulder formed around a top edge of said side wall of the outer pot element so as to form said space there between and wherein said outer pot element has a third circumferential shoulder formed therein to receive and support said grid element when said inner pan element is not used.

Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1. A cooking device comprising an outer pot element; an inner pot element; a grid element; a lid element; the outer pot element having an outer pot side wall and an outer pot base, the outer pot base having an opening, the outer pot element further having second and third shoulders, the third shoulder being of smaller diameter than the second shoulder, and an upstanding rim connected to the second shoulder at an outer part thereof; the inner pot element having an inner pot side wall and an inner pot base, the inner pot side wall being of smaller diameter and depth than the outer pot side wall, the inner pot element having a second flange engageable with the said second shoulder, and a first flange having openings therein, the first flange being of smaller diameter than the second flange; the grid element having extensions adapted alternately to engage the said first flange and the third shoulder.

2. A cooking device comprising: an outer pot element which is a deep pot-like element having a bottom with a circumferential side wall formed thereon, said outer pot element having a opening formed on said bottom thereof for receiving and keeping heat therein and a plurality of lugs preferably generally symmetrically attached on said side wall; an inner pot element which is a pan-like element with a circumferential flange attached on a top edge thereof and a plurality of holes formed on said flange, said inner pot element being so disposed inside said outer pot element that a space is formed between the bottom of said outer pot element and said inner pot element; a grid element which is so shaped that it is able to rest on said inner pot element when said inner pot element is disposed inside said outer pot element and is able to rest directly and solely inside said outer pot element when said inner pot element is not used; and a lid element for covering said outer pot element which has a knob for lifting said lid element and a closable hole controlled by a tab slidable between a first position in which said closable hole is open and a second position in which said closable hole is closed.

A cooking device as claimed in Claim 2 wherein said inner pot element has a first circumferential shoulder formed around said flange thereof to be received and located by a second circumferential shoulder formed around a top edge of said side wall of the outer pot element so as to form said space therebetween and wherein said outer pot element has a third circumferential shoulder formed therein to receive and support said grid element when said inner pot element is not used.

An outer pot element for use in a cooking device as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 which includes a side wall; a base connected to the side wall, the base having an opening; a second shoulder on the side wall, the second shoulder being adapted and positioned to support the pan-like element spaced from the base; A third shoulder on the side wall, the third shoulder being of smaller diameter than the secbnd shoulder and adapted and positioned to support a grid element spaced from the base.

5. An outer pot element as claimed in Claim 4 wherein the second shoulder terminates at its radially outer side in an upwardly extending rim, the rim being adapted to support and locate a lid element for the outer pot element.

6. An outer pot element as claimed in Claim 4 or Claim 5 wherein the side wall has external lugs adapted for lifting the outer pot element.

7. An inner pot element for use in a cooking device as claimed in any of Claims 1-3 which includes an inner pot side wall, the inner pot side wall being of lesser depth than the said outer pot side wall; a base; a first flange attached to the said inner pot side wall; a second flange of greater radius than the first flange and attached to the first flange by an upstanding wall, the first flange having a plurality of holes therethrough.

8. A cooking device constructed and arranged substantially as described in relation to Fig.l or Fig.2 or Fig.3 of the accompanying drawings.

9. An outer pot element constructed and arranged substantially as described in relation to Fig.l or Fig.2 or Fig.3 of the accompanying drawings.

10. An inner pot element constructed and arranged substantially as described in relation to Fig.l or Fig.2 or Fig.3 of the accompanying drawings.
