Abstract
225,188. Soc. Anon. des Automobiles et Cycles Peugeot. Nov. 19, 1923, [Convention date]. Vibration-dampers.- In friction shockabsorbers for vehicles, the arms, each of which may comprise one or more branches, have secured to them annular cups to embrace large flat washers or rings and means are provided for resiliently pressing the arms together, the outer ends of the arms being connected to the chassis and axle respectively by universal joints. The branches 3, 4, Fig. 2, of one of the arms have secured to them annular cups 8 which co-operate with annular cups secured to the other arm 1 and enclose friction washers 9. The two arms are pressed together by stamped cups 10, 11 a socket 13, screw 15, washer 14, and spring washers 12. The arm 1 may comprise two branches and the other arm three branches. The outer ends of the arms comprise a spindle 16, Figs. 1 and 2, in alignment with the arm and having a tapered shoulder 16<a>, and a socket 20 is secured over the spindle by a tapered washer 17, friction washers 21, and a nut 18. The socket 20 is bored to take a transverse spindle 23 which is secured, in a similar manner to the spindle 16, by means of a shoulder 23<a>, Fig. 2, washer 24, nut 25, and friction washers 27.
