E l l i p s o g r a p h s.- A frame having a bowed portion 1 and a straight portion 3 is formed with bearings 5, 6, 7 for a spindie 4, to the lower end of which is pivoted a foot 8 having three equidistant prongs 9. Mounted on the spindle is a member consisting of two semicircular plates 10 hinged together by a pin 2 and adapted to be adjusted angularly by links 12 connecting them to a collar 11 which can be adjusted along the spindle and secured by a screw 13. Pivoted to the lower end of the frame is a shank 19, and pivoted to the upper part of the frame is a shank 15, carrying a collar 17 having a projection 18 engaging the shank 19; the collar 17 is adjustable along the shank 15 and can be secured by a screw 20. The shank 15 carries a pen &c. 21. A spring 16 presses the shanks 15, 19 together and also maintains the shank 19 in engagement with the edge of the member 10.
