Abstract

In order to space the lower edge of a picture from the wall and to hold the picture against tilting from the horizontal, discs of pre-glued high-friction plastics or rubber material are provided for application to the back of the picture, the adhesive on the discs being covered by a removable cover sheet.

Description

PICTURE DEVICE This invention relates to a picture device for securing to a picture to assist in holding the picture against tilting from the horizontal or/and to space the picture from the wall.

Pictures hung on the wall generally have their lower edge resting against the wall, and the upper edge spaced from the wall.

According to one aspect of the invention I provide at least one picture device adapted to be secured to the lower region of the back of a picture to engage with the wall, the device being provided on one surface with an adhesive which is covered by a removable cover sheet to enable the user to remove the cover sheet and apply the adhesively-coated surface to the back of a picture.

According to a second aspect of the invention I provide a device adapted to be secured to the lower region of the back of a picture to engage the wall, the device being formed from a material which has a high frictional coefficient relative to usual wall materials, such as an emulsioned wall.

The device preferably comprises a block of rubber or plastics material. Two such blocks can be adhesively secured to the lower region of the back of a picture frame, or to an unframed picture.

One embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example only.

The device has the form of a disc of dimensions approximately 21 diameter and 1 thick moulded, or stamped, from a sheet of high-friction plastics or rubber material. A particularly suitable plastics is soft PVC.

A pair of such discs is adhesively secured to the lower frame member of a picture frame, adjacent to the respective lower corners of the frame. The discs are provided on one planar side face with a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive, such as RAFATAK (TM) R100, covered by a suitable peel able cover sheet.

If desired, the side of the disc remote from the adhesively-coated side may be formed with one or more projections for engagement with the wall.

Such discs can help to retain the picture in a level attitude and with the plane of the picture more vertical to the wall. Thus the discs act as a high-frictional spacer means.

Claims

1. A picture device adapted to be secured to the lower region of the back of a picture to engage with the wall, the device being formed from a material which has a high frictional coefficient relative to usual wall materials, the device being provided on one surface with an adhesive which is covered by a removable cover sheet to enable the user to remove the cover sheet and apply the adhesively-coated surface to the back of a picture.

2. A picture device as claimed in claim 1 in which the device comprises a block of rubber.

3. A picture device as claimed in claim 1 in which the device comprises a block of high-friction plastics material.

4. A device as claimed in claim 3 in which the plastics is PVC.

5. A picture device as claimed in any one of the preceding claims in which the device is in the form of a disc.

6. A picture device as claimed in any one of the preceding claims in which the thickness of the device is substantially 4~ (6mm).

7. A picture device substantially as described herein with reference to the exemplary embodiment.

8. A picture to which has been adhesively secured, in the lower region of the back, at least one picture device as claimed in any one of the preceding claims.
