Coils and conductors.-Conductors are secured in their slots by resilient means tending to force them transversely against an abutment and towards the open ends of the slots. In one one arrangement, Figs. 1 and 2, a corrugated strip 12 is inserted in the slot behind bare conductors 11 and a wedge 13 is driven between them, the conductor being thereby forced against the tooth surface 16. The ends of the strips andwedges are turned over against the core face, and the conductors are provided with a projection 17 and chisel-notch 18 to hold them against longitudinal movement. The strips 12 may be gable-shaped with the wedges 13 located beneath them. In another arrangement, Fig. 5, the conductors are insulated and the corrugations 21 in contact therewith are flattened. Fig. 8 shows a former wound coil with an outer wedge 27 and a flattened strip 12.
